Shortlist Sunday

I like having my weekly list to attempt to keep myself organized and keep from chasing rabbit holes.  However I also know that I’m prone to biting off more than I can chew so to speak. I likely won’t ever really finish all my list during the school year, but I still think I’m making more progress than I would without the list. So how did this week go? 
1. Finish quilting and bind the wedding quilt. (Quilting is done but I was a few inches short on binding)
2. Transfer the remaining blog posts (done)
3. Finish the disaster victim quilt top (I had to seam rip more, and kind of stalled)
4. Make the final block in at least one of the blocks of the month from last year. (I still haven’t done this, but I did work on some appliqué preparations so hopefully next week)
5. Cut another disaster victim quit (preferably our mystery) (I haven’t even brought up the fabric)
6. Continue to make progress on a new crumb quilt (I always forget how much time these take, but I’m making progress)
7. Make some progress on my memory quilt for my mom.  (No progress) 
So what is on next week’s list? Well today is sit and stitch at our local quilt shop so I need a hand project.
1. Get the wedding gift bound
2. Write posts on two recent baby quilts 

3. Write about our next ports of call
4. Keep working on the crumb blocks.
5. At least get the last block of the month block fused to the fabric.
6. Hand appliqué a snowman block for my won flakey friends quilt.


I left this week a little more manageable (I hope)because I know I have some busy evenings. I can always pull the mystery or my mom’s quilts if I have the time but I don’t know that I will.

Tickled Pink

       When Carla, from Creatin' in the sticks  announced the theme for this blog hop was to use pink I think something went wrong in my brain and I heard that the theme was to jump from one project with some pink to another, depending what tickled my fancy...that seems to be what I did anyhow! I was really hoping I'd use the opportunity to finish one of my pink tulip quilts.  I had been inspired by the "All about Strings" blog hop in 2019 and started a lot of tulip blocks; sadly I have yet to finish a top from them.  Maybe that can be my project for the upcoming UFO blog hop!  I did make progress on them until I reached the point where I'd need to cut some strips for the stems. Time in a Bottle

 I've only recently started to enjoy making half square triangles, so when the theme for Time in a Bottle was announced I wasn't sure I'd participate.  I considered making a mug rug for game night with a hourglass applique but since the prompt specifically said the hourglass block I wasn't sure that would work.  Then when I started working on the Oh My Stars quilt I showed last month in the Tickled Pink blog hop, I realized I had a lot of bonus triangles I could use.  I have a tendency to throw those bonus triangles in my scrap bin and add them to crazy blocks but I decided I'd use them to make hourglasses this time.  By the time I trimmed them my hourglass was much smaller than I usually work with, but they weren't so bad to work with, until it came time for quilting.  Between a needle I should have replaced and a lot of joined seams the back has some areas that don't look so great-if it were something that would be seen I'd feel the need to tear it out...

See you Later Alligator!

When this blog hop was announced I knew it was a perfect fit because of how much we love to travel. I had so many ideas of travel quilts; none of which have been sewn yet. After evaluating my UFOs in the last hop I decided I needed to focus on projects with definite deadlines rather than "that's cute and would be nice to make someday" projects...Fortunately I had a baby quilt with a deadline that also matched the theme! When someone is taking a train trip, there's probably someone left behind saying "see you later, alligator" after all. I also completed another baby quilt top at my retreat with Noah's Ark, though I can't find it, there has to be an alligator in there somewhere. Both of the babies are expected in December and I have the backings ready so quilting them should definitely be done in time to prevent these from becoming UFOs.
