Born to be Wild

When Carol announced this blog hop it was like it was meant to be.  When a new baby is expected in our school the faculty fund gets them a gift.  This year I finally felt confident enough in my machine quilting to make the gifts for new babies and we ended up having 4 new babies expected.  I had just completed twin jungle themed quilts for one of our learning support teacher.  She had chosen a jungle theme for the nursery but wasn't sure the gender of one of the twins when I started working on them so I chose to use shades of green.   I wanted similar designs but not identical so I used 2 of  Creatin' in the sticks ' blocks from 30 blocks in 30 days and the same fabrics.  One is backed in the leaves and the other in the animal print.   There is nothing jungle like where we live, but on a trip to Virginia we were able to go to the zoo and snap a couple pictures!  We gave the mom to be her quilts just in time, the very next day she was put on bed rest.   May 17 th Creatin

Hands to Help

For several years I’ve read  Confessions of a Fabric Addict ’s Hands 2 Help series and thought that it was something I should do.  This year she added hometown heroes as one of the recipient suggestions and I finally decided I needed to do more than think about making something.  I had a bag or red scraps and some left over tan solid so I started the first tutorial Sarah posted.  A friend from church works in several nursing homes in the area in physical therapy and I could see how much of a toll the stress was having on her, so I decided she needed a quilt.  She was near tears when she opened it, you just never know how much someone may need to be noticed.
