Becky’s Adventures in Quilting and Travel

 One of the hardest parts of adulthood, at least for me is that many of my dearest friends live hours away so even when we’re not in a pandemic it’s difficult to visit as often as we’d like.  Thank God for technology, so we can keep in touch.  I really don’t know how I’d have handled the past year without the support of my long distance friends. So over Thanksgiving break when I saw Burlap and Blossom’s  Love Across The Miles  quilt block, I knew it was perfect for one of my long distance friends who loves to travel.  I finished it in time to add to the Christmas presents I was sending for her family.  The day I was putting binding on this blog hop was posted, and this met the description of a heart in any color but red. In the living room, they have a map marked with places they’ve visited, this compliments it well.  Check out all the other great projects, I’m sure there’s something to set your heart afire!  January 18 Creatin' in the Sticks Life in the Scrapatch Freckled Fox Quil

When we found out our principal was leaving our school and taking a position back in the classroom I had to make a throw quilt for her parting gift.  I was really upset to see her leave, because she was so supportive and reminded us to take time for ourselves.  Fortunately she stayed in our district so she will still be in department meetings.  I didn't have a lot of time to work so I chose a charm pack with bright cheerful colors that I knew she'd love. I had just bought the Giggles card from VillaRosa designs so I used that pattern but enlarged it slightly to use the full charm packs. Over Christmas vacation we took a trip to Washington's Crossing State Park and Valley Forge National Park; with both of us now being history teachers it only made sense to take the quilt with me and take pictures. 

 I accomplished so much over my vacation that I debated if I could go back to weekly lists instead of monthly, but I know I struggled for any sewing time in the fall before we went full virtual, so I think I’ll stay monthly for now...I am trying to work at least 15 minutes of sewing time in each evening, so hopefully things will be better.  I did a post for the My Stitching Resolution quilt with my 2021 quilting goals,  it I hadn’t given thought to my travel goals since no one knows when we’ll be traveling again.  Then I saw a post from PA state parks several years ago in my memories that gave me a goal I should be able to achieve.  Camp at 2 new state parks and hike 10 new trails.  One of my best friends has been saying for years we were going to do something special this summer for our 40th birthdays; we’ve got a cabin reserved in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia.  I’m hoping my goal of adding at least 2 states from last year is achievable this year.    So how did I do with December g
